"It is about making it possible"

The notion of time was revisited daily by Marina Abramovic and Lynsey Peisinger in the performance 512 Hours at the Serpentine Gallery in London in 2014. At the end of each day, they recorded their experience on camera as part of a video diary. On day 21, after another eight hours of performing, Peisinger tells the story of a young gallery assistant at the Serpentine. He brought his parents to the exhibition that day, wanting them to be part of the unique experience that 512 Hours offered. Sharing openly about her strong emotional connection to him, she talks about his commitment to being a facilitator, his dedication to and understanding of this essential role. Peisinger is moved to tears recalling how his father came to her to expressing how the young man would arrive home after commuting for hours. Full of energy, enthusiasm, and pure joy from being part of this work, it would take him almost all evening to calm down. Facilitators in this type of performance, which relies so heavily on interaction and improvisation, are the ones who ensure that everyone truly can become part of the artwork.

Tathy Yazigi, a 30 year-old performance artist works as an Abramovic Method facilitator at Terra Comunal - MAI. As someone who is in constantly interacting with visitors and artists here at SESC Pompeia, Tathy gives her impressions of Terra Comunal - MAI:

My presence here is active and relational. I am also a performer, but this is new for me. Dancing stopped feeding me and I went to theater. When the theater was not feeding me, I began self-portraits. I began to put myself in the pictures as an object. My photography work carries the idea of presence. My photos became performative. In my performance, people are relating with images that I create. However, here in the exhibition, I'm just a person. There is a human character, a careful character. Facilitating the Method, for me, is to make it real, giving life to this idea. It is about making it possible. It is very intense. There is a constant factor that is about caring and being open to people. I see my presence as an experience of caring for the public.
