"Open to understanding"

The amount of time people spend experiencing the different components of Terra Comunal - MAI varies greatly. 71 year-old engineer Sérgio Bohrer is the kind of visitor who takes his time in front of each work, reading all the wall text, watching carefully to absorb as much information as possible. He makes notes, takes photos, and records the curators’ comments. In describing his reaction to the exhibition, Bohrer recalls his relationship with art, listing his past attempts with various mediums. He further explains that his relationship to performance art is mainly one of curiosity:

"My presence here is one of an engineer who is open to understanding something new. I study art history, my father used to draw, I experiment with photography...I have tried ceramics and lithography too; but I'm still an engineer, a man who thinks about technology, physics. Performance is not the easiest type of art to understand, but I have read a lot about Marina and her work and I watched lots of archival videos. I cannot say much about what I understood, but I can say I'm very interested."

Terra Comunal - MAI is free and open to the public until May 10, 2015 @SESC Pompeia, São Paulo - Brazil.
